Caracas, January 9 (Xinhua) — Venezuela has decided to initiate diplomatic contacts with the United States "in a trial format," Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto announced in an official statement on Friday.
In his social media post, I.J. Pinto noted that the negotiations are intended to "eliminate the consequences resulting from the aggression" and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife by the United States.
According to the statement, the dialogue in a trial format will also cover “a working agenda on issues of mutual interest.”
The diplomat added that in this regard, a delegation of representatives from the US State Department is currently in Venezuela. –0–
