Bishkek, January 9 (Xinhua) — The Anti-Drug Trafficking Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has disrupted the activities of a transnational organized crime group, seizing more than 136 kg of drugs, the Kyrgyz National News Agency Kabar reported on Friday.
The group had long been involved in the smuggling and distribution of Afghan-origin narcotics on a large scale through Kyrgyzstan. As a result of investigative and operational activities, seven members of this organized crime group were arrested, and one more individual was identified and placed on the international wanted list. They were identified as citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.
Criminal cases have been opened on the grounds of crimes stipulated by the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan. –0–
