Beijing, January 9 (Xinhua) — The BRICS joint naval exercise "Will for Peace 2026" will involve member countries of the group, including China, Russia, and South Africa, according to a statement released by the Chinese Ministry of Defense on Friday.
The exercises will take place from early to mid-January in the waters and airspace near the South African port of Simon's Town.
The theme of the upcoming joint exercises is "Joint Operations to Ensure the Security of Important Shipping Routes and Economic Activity." They will include counter-terrorism and rescue operations, as well as strikes against maritime targets. Exchanges of professional experience and reciprocal ship visits are also planned.
The exercises aim to further deepen military exchanges and cooperation between the participating countries, as well as strengthen their joint capabilities in countering maritime threats.
