BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — The number of criminal cases filed by public security organs across China fell by 12.8 percent in 2025 compared with the previous year, Ministry of Public Security spokesperson Zhang Ming said Thursday.

According to him, the number of cases related to serious violent crimes, kidnapping, as well as traditional thefts, robberies and fraud, decreased by 4.7, 40.7 and 21.2 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Zhang Ming noted that in 2025, 210 people's police officers and 142 auxiliary police officers across China died in the line of duty.
