BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — The volume of trucks passing through Manzhouli Port, located on the China-Russia border in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reached a new all-time high of over 249,000 units in 2025, up 39.9 percent year-on-year, according to a statement posted on the official website of the Manzhouli city government.
As an important hub for the Belt and Road Initiative and a key platform for China's northern opening-up, Manzhouli Port has been steadily enhancing its role as a transportation hub and providing a powerful impetus to the construction of a new development architecture.
Since the pilot implementation of a 24-hour customs clearance system at the Manzhouli Port in May 2023, the local border control agency has been actively pursuing innovative services in the face of steadily increasing cargo and passenger flows through the construction of a "smart border crossing." Customs clearance efficiency has been enhanced by opening "green" channels, such as priority inspection and fresh product release, and by implementing a collaboration model that ensures the exchange of information and images, as well as the mutual recognition of inspection results.
"The speed and convenience of customs clearance at the Manzhouli checkpoint have now reached a very high level. We export fruits and vegetables from here daily on 40-50 trucks, and small goods on 200-300 trucks. We are confident in the development of this border crossing," said Liu Weidong, deputy general manager of Senfu International Logistics Company in Manzhouli.
In the future, the local border control service plans to fully integrate into the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and the country's northward opening-up bridgeheads, properly coordinate security control and efficient customs clearance, provide targeted assistance to enterprises, and contribute to promoting the country's high-level opening-up to the outside world. -0-
