Phnom Penh, January 7 (Xinhua) — Cambodia is committed to strictly and fully implementing the ceasefire agreement with Thailand to restore peace in both countries, Cambodian People's Party Chairman and Senate Speaker Hun Sen said on Wednesday.

Restoring peace between Cambodia and Thailand will also contribute to peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region, he added.

“Cambodia expresses its deepest gratitude to all friendly countries and the international community, in particular the United States, the People's Republic of China and the ASEAN member states under the coordination of Malaysia as the ASEAN Chair, for their active assistance and participation in seeking this peaceful solution,” Hun Sen said.

Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to an immediate ceasefire on December 27, 2025, after three weeks of armed conflict that has resulted in casualties on both sides.
