Moscow, January 4 (Xinhua) — Between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, Russian air defense assets shot down 253 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Russian regions, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.

“On January 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, air defense alert systems intercepted and destroyed 253 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles: 86 over the Bryansk region, 53 over the Belgorod region, 39 over the Moscow region, 27 over the Kaluga region, 14 over the Kursk region, 8 UAVs each over the Ryazan and Tula regions, 3 each over the Vladimir, Volgograd, Lipetsk, Oryol, and Rostov regions, 2 over the Voronezh region, and 1 over the Smolensk region,” the Russian defense ministry said in a statement.
