BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) — China's General Headquarters for Flood and Drought Control on Thursday activated a Level 4 emergency response mechanism over floods in five northern regions of the country, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.
According to the meteorological service, heavy rainfall is expected in Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Jilin provinces, and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from Thursday to Saturday.
Earlier, the headquarters office sent a working group to Jilin Province to assist in eliminating the consequences of the disaster.
On Thursday, the state general headquarters also issued a level 4 emergency response mechanism in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces as the 7th typhoon of the year approaches.
