BEIJING, December 31 (Xinhua) — China's outstanding external debt stood at approximately $2.37 trillion as of the end of September 2025, indicating overall stability in the third quarter, according to data released Wednesday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

Deputy head of the department Li Bin reported that the scale of external debt has decreased slightly, while the currency structure has remained generally stable, and the maturity structure has been optimized.

At the end of September, external debt denominated in national currency amounted to 51.9 percent of the total volume, which is 0.2 percentage points lower than the figure at the end of June.

In the maturity structure, the share of medium- and long-term debt amounted to 42.5 percent of the total volume, increasing by 0.1 percentage points compared to the end of June. –0–
