BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called for efforts to ensure a successful start to the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at a New Year's tea party held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

In his New Year greetings, Xi Jinping called on the entire Party and the country's multi-ethnic people to unite even more closely and continuously open up new horizons in advancing China's modernization.

He noted that 2025 was a special year in which China achieved major economic and social development goals, demonstrated strong economic resilience and vitality, and maintained overall social stability.

According to him, the past year also marked the completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development (2021-2025), as a result of which China's overall national strength reached a new level.

As 2026 marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, Xi Jinping called for efforts in various aspects to give the new period a good start.

Xi Jinping stressed that the CPPCC should focus its consultative and advisory work on formulating and implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan to mobilize broad support and energy for advancing China's modernization. -0-
