WASHINGTON, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday he had a "very productive" phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin ahead of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida on Sunday to discuss the latest draft of a peace plan to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
“I just had a good and very productive phone call with Russian President Putin ahead of my meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy today at 1:00 PM,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"The meeting will take place in the main dining room at Mar-a-Lago. The press is invited," he added.
Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Trump and Zelensky are expected to discuss the main provisions of the 20-point peace plan, including a possible timeframe for a ceasefire, a proposal to create a demilitarized zone, management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, territorial control over Donbas, and security guarantees after the crisis ends.
