PHNOM PENH, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) — The first batch of emergency humanitarian aid provided by the Chinese government to Cambodia arrived at Phnom Penh's Techo International Airport on Sunday.

Essential items include tents, blankets and food.

The ceremony of handing over the humanitarian aid was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia Ung Rachana.

Wang Wenbin said China's emergency humanitarian aid to Cambodia will play a role in helping the Cambodian people, who have suffered as a result of the border conflict with Thailand, overcome their current predicament.

China welcomes the ceasefire announcement and will continue to play a positive and constructive role in strengthening the truce between the two sides, he added.

On behalf of the Cambodian government and people, Ung Rachana sincerely thanked China for its assistance, stating that the Cambodian government attaches great importance to the strong friendship with China and highly appreciates Beijing's active and constructive role in promoting a ceasefire and ending the armed conflict.
