BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) — Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang on Thursday expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolute protest over a recent U.S. report that distorts China's national defense policy and military development.
Zhang Xiaogang made the statement at a departmental press conference in response to a question regarding the US Department of Defense's report on China's military and security developments in 2025.
A Chinese official noted that by publishing such reports year after year, the United States grossly interferes in China's internal affairs, maliciously distorts China's defense policy, and deliberately inflates the "Chinese military threat" to mislead the international community.
"China consistently pursues a defensive national policy and firmly adheres to a military strategy of active defense," Zhang Xiaogang emphasized.
Noting that the US and its allies must stop dangerous provocations, Zhang Xiaogang called on the US side to form an objective and rational perception of China and the Chinese armed forces, refraining from fabricating false narratives and inciting confrontation. –0–
