BEIJING, December 25 (Xinhua) — The Chinese government hopes that relevant parties can reach a solution regarding TikTok that complies with China's laws and regulations and balances interests, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said on Thursday.

He Yongqian made the statement at a regular press conference when asked to comment on reports that TikTok had signed agreements with three investors to establish a new joint venture in the United States to ensure the continuation of its operations there.

According to the representative, in order to implement the important consensus reached during the telephone conversation between the leaders of China and the United States, the trade and economic teams of both sides previously reached a basic framework agreement on properly resolving issues related to TikTok and other issues through cooperation based on mutual respect and equal consultation.

He Yongqian expressed hope that the US side will support China in taking steps towards each other and thoroughly fulfill its respective promises.

She also called on the United States to ensure a fair, open, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for the continuous and stable operation of Chinese enterprises in the United States, so as to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade ties. -0-
