BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) — Senior Chinese government officials have vowed to steadily push forward energy conservation and carbon emission reduction efforts.

Vice Premier He Lifeng and heads of several government departments made the announcement on Wednesday at a joint meeting of the 19th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC).

During the meeting, attended by Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Zhao Leji, deputies reviewed the report on the inspection of the implementation of the PRC Energy Conservation Law and asked government representatives a number of questions in this regard.

He Lifeng pledged to continuously improve the efficiency of energy resource production to provide reliable guarantees for achieving peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, and to accelerate the all-round green transformation of China's socio-economic development.
