China's electricity consumption rose steadily in November

BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) — China's electricity consumption, a barometer of economic activity, rose steadily in November, official data showed Wednesday.

According to the National Energy Administration of China, the country's total electricity consumption last month reached 835.6 billion kWh, up 6.2 percent year-on-year.

Specifically, electricity consumption in the primary and secondary sectors of the economy increased by 7.9 percent and 4.4 percent year-on-year, respectively. Meanwhile, the tertiary sector saw a 10.3 percent increase.

Electricity consumption by urban and rural residents in the country reached 105.7 billion kWh over the past month, an increase of 9.8 percent year-on-year.

In the first 11 months of this year, electricity consumption in China increased by 5.2 percent to approximately 9.46 trillion kWh.
