Tbilisi, December 23 (Xinhua) — Former head of the Georgian State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, has been detained by law enforcement agencies. This was announced at a briefing on Tuesday by Georgian Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze.

According to him, G. Liluashvili is accused of several counts, including receiving a bribe on an especially large scale by a group of individuals by prior conspiracy, which carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 11 to 15 years.

The prosecutor's office is petitioning for a preventive measure in the form of detention.
