NANCHANG, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) — When Dewell Group executive D. Denisov opened his contact page on his phone, he quickly received dozens of friend requests from small and medium-sized business owners in China.

This scene recently unfolded in Jiangxi Province (Eastern China), home to Lake Poyang, known as the "Kingdom of White Cranes." More than 98 percent of the world's white cranes winter there, many of which migrate to Jiangxi annually from Siberia.

In December of this year, the 12th roundtable meeting on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in China and Russia was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Over 100 Chinese and Russian SMEs gathered to explore opportunities for cooperation.

SMEs are the foundation of China's economic resilience. China has over 60 million SMEs, which have annually accounted for over 60 percent of GDP, over 70 percent of technological innovation, and over 80 percent of urban employment over the past five years.

In recent years, Chinese-Russian relations have developed at a high level, providing greater opportunities for cooperation between SMEs of the two countries.

Jiangxi Ocean Willy Industrial Co., Ltd., a company from Jiangxi Province, is investing in the construction of a plant to produce environmentally friendly building materials in Russia. The company's deputy general director, Huang Pu, said that he frequently travels to China and Russia for work. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently signed a decree granting temporary visa-free entry to Russia for Chinese citizens, and China previously introduced a visa-free regime for Russians, meaning mutual visa abolition between the two countries and facilitating business travel for SMEs from both countries.

According to Sergei Mironov, Chairman of the A Just Russia party and head of the A Just Russia faction in the Russian State Duma, bilateral trade between Russia and China exceeded $244.8 billion in 2024 and continues to grow. As cooperation deepens, he is confident that settlements in rubles and yuan will become possible in the near future.

After nearly 20 years of development, the China-Russia SME Support Roundtable has gradually become an important platform for promoting high-quality cooperation between SMEs in the two countries. A distinctive practice of rotating provinces and regions of the two countries as hosts has been established, promoting the expansion of practical cooperation between regions and enterprises.
