Shenzhen, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) — A premium freight train officially departed from Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, to Moscow as part of the China-Europe international rail freight service. It will cross the border at the Ereenhot checkpoint in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
A train loaded with goods produced in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, worth a total of 20 million yuan (approximately 2.8 million US dollars), including household appliances, clothing, toys, etc., recently departed from the Shenzhen International Integrated Logistics Center to Moscow's Selyatino station.
"The launch of this premium route has brought real benefits to businesses. Not only does it reduce shipping time along the same route from 22 to 16 days, but it also eliminates the risk of fluctuations in sea freight schedules," said Hu Bo, sales manager at Shenzhen Jiayuda E-commerce Technology Co., Ltd.
According to Shenzhen Customs data, a total of 177 China-Europe trains departed from Shenzhen in the first 11 months of 2025, representing a 40.5 percent increase year-on-year, and the total value of transported cargo reached 5.84 billion yuan, an increase of 27.5 percent. This provided strong support to enterprises in the Greater Bay Area, ensuring the stability of international industrial and supply chains.
As of August 18 of this year, the aforementioned Shenzhen hub had handled a total of 878 China-Europe trains in the five years since the launch of such freight services there in 2020. These trains carried more than 85,000 standard container units (TEUs) carrying goods worth over $3 billion. More than 7,000 enterprises have used these services.
Currently, Shenzhen has launched a total of 27 international routes within the China-Europe railway freight transportation system, covering 47 countries and regions, including Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, and others.
