Minsk, December 16 (Xinhua) — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed plans to expand bilateral cooperation during a meeting in Minsk on Monday, the Belarusian leader's press service reported.
During the talks, the Belarusian leader emphasized that the countries are implementing a roadmap for comprehensive cooperation for 2023-2026 and that it is necessary to jointly plan the further development of relations.
"The economy is our priority. Therefore, I propose not only discussing trade and economic relations, where we can do much for Iran—we have certain opportunities and interest—but also perhaps identifying some areas of the roadmap, the plan that will be developed for the near future," said Alexander Lukashenko.
A. Araghchi noted that the two countries' friendly relations are free of any obstacles or problems. He also recalled that the two sides recently held a successful meeting of the intergovernmental commission, and the Belarusian Minister of Industry visited Tehran. "This was a very successful commission meeting. We are very pleased. Substantive, good agreements were reached. I am here today to further explore all these issues," the Foreign Minister concluded.
