JERUSALEM, December 14 (Xinhua) — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it killed a Palestinian militant on Saturday evening during a raid in the northern West Bank.

According to an IDF statement, the elite paratrooper unit was conducting an operation in the village of Silat al-Harithiya near Jenin when a militant "threw an explosive device" towards the soldiers.

Soldiers reportedly opened fire and killed the militant. No one was injured on the Israeli side.

That same day, Israeli forces in Gaza killed Raed Saad, the head of Hamas's weapons production headquarters. The IDF stated that Raed Saad was one of the organizers of the October 7, 2023, attack and called him "one of the last remaining senior militants" in the besieged enclave.
