Abu Dhabi, December 13 (Xinhua) — China is ready to work with the UAE to elevate the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level. This was stated on Friday by visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, during a meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The UAE is a Middle Eastern country of particular importance and influence. China and the UAE have aligned development strategies, similar governance philosophies, and highly complementary economies, making the two countries natural friends and partners, Wang Yi noted.
He said that for more than four decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and the UAE have respected and supported each other, and bilateral ties have withstood the test of the changing international environment, maintaining healthy and stable development.
China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the UAE, implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state, remain true to the original aspirations of establishing diplomatic relations, deepen strategic mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and develop traditional friendship, so as to jointly advance the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level, he added.
Noting that the second China-Arab States Summit is scheduled for next year in China, Wang Yi said he looks forward to the participation of Arab leaders and expressed hope that with the support of the UAE and other Arab countries, the summit will yield positive results and take China-Arab States relations to a new level.
In turn, A. bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that over the more than four decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations, ties between the UAE and China have rapidly developed based on mutual respect and trust, leading to fruitful cooperation in various fields and deepening friendship between their peoples. Relations between the two countries have become a model for interstate relations, he added.
He stressed that the UAE firmly adheres to the one-China principle, firmly supports China in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity and achieving national reunification, and firmly opposes foreign interference in China's internal affairs.
