PHNOM PENH, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said on Saturday that he had a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the two sides discussed the Cambodian-Thai border conflict.
The telephone conversations, which took place on Friday evening local time, were aimed at finding ways to achieve a ceasefire and resume the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand, the prime minister wrote on social media.
He also reported that he had a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Thursday. "Cambodia has always adhered to peaceful methods of dispute resolution in accordance with the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration," he said.
The conflict on the Cambodia-Thailand border resumed on Sunday afternoon. Both sides blamed the other for the attack and confirmed casualties.
