BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) — China's military on Friday called on the Philippines to immediately stop provocations in the South China Sea (SCS).

Tian Junli, spokesman for the People's Liberation Army's (PLA) Southern Zone Combat Command (SZCC), said several Philippine light aircraft had illegally entered the airspace over China's Huangyan Island without permission from the Chinese government.

The PLA's Southwest Coastal Command has organized naval and air forces to monitor, warn and expel them in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, Tian Junli said.

Once again reaffirming that Huangyan Dao Island has been an inalienable part of Chinese territory since ancient times, Tian Junli emphasized that the PLA Southwest Coastal Region troops are constantly on high alert and will resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and security, as well as maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea. -0-
