Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova congratulated the staff of the E.I. Chazov National Medical Research Center of Cardiology on its 80th anniversary.
"The Academician Chazov National Medical Research Center of Cardiology has undergone a remarkable transformation, transforming a small division of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences into a powerful, high-tech medical center. For many years, the center has been the leading organization in the field of cardiology in our country, developing cutting-edge programs that it implements in the regions along with best medical practices. During the implementation of the national project "Healthcare" from 2019 to 2024, and now, as part of the new national project "Long and Active Life," the center is a flagship in the most serious area of work—the fight against cardiovascular diseases," said Tatyana Golikova.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that 653 vascular centers were established in the regions between 2019 and 2024. More than 150 regional vascular centers were opened with the direct participation of the National Medical Research Center of Cardiology. More than 28,000 units of medical equipment and 670 units of heavy equipment were purchased for regional institutions.
The center carefully preserves the traditions of the unique scientific and applied school of cardiology and cardiac surgery established by academicians Alexander Myasnikov and Evgeny Chazov, and makes a significant contribution to the training of medical personnel. The Chazov Center's staff has developed dozens of original diagnostic and treatment methods for cardiovascular diseases and developed and implemented a number of unique, effective medications with no analogues worldwide.
Tatyana Golikova added that the introduction of new, advanced technologies makes it possible to reduce mortality and improve the quality of life of cardiac patients. Over the past six years, the number of endovascular interventions for therapeutic purposes has increased by almost 55%, and hospital mortality from myocardial infarction has decreased by more than 25.2%.
The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the center on this significant date and expressed gratitude to all its employees for their work, their contributions to the development of science, medicine, advanced treatment methods, and their close collaboration with the country's regions.
Tatyana Golikova presented the Russian Federation state award – the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland," 2nd Class – to Andrey Andreevich Shiryaev, Head of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at the E.I. Chazov National Medical Research Center of Cardiology of the Russian Ministry of Health.
