Moscow, December 10 (Xinhua) — Moscow and Washington have agreed to continue working to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced this during government hour in the Federation Council.
"Discussions of the relevant proposals from the American side continued on December 2 during the visit to Moscow of US Presidential Special Envoy Steven Witkoff. An agreement was reached to continue this work," the Russian minister said.
Sergey Lavrov noted that Moscow appreciates US President Donald Trump's commitment to dialogue to resolve the conflict through diplomatic means. "The main thing is that there is a fundamental understanding that a sustainable settlement is impossible without eradicating the root causes of the crisis," the Russian Foreign Minister stated.
He also emphasized that European countries are artificially holding back the peace process. According to Lavrov, Europe is trying in every way to push the Ukrainian authorities to continue fighting "until the last Ukrainian."
