BEIJING, December 8 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck offshore Hualien County, Taiwan, at 7:24 p.m. on Monday, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported.
The epicenter of the tremors was located at 23.78 degrees north latitude and 121.70 degrees east longitude. The hypocenter was located at a depth of 20 kilometers.
