Ankara, December 7 (Xinhua) — At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured in a traffic accident in Turkey's southeastern Osmaniye province on Saturday, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to him, a passenger bus rear-ended a truck with a flat tire parked on the side of the road. Following the accident, authorities closed the road to traffic.
The truck driver has been detained. Rescuers are working to remove the damaged vehicles from the road. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The Osmaniye provincial governor's office said the victims were being identified.
According to official data, 2,713 people died in road accidents in Turkey in 2024. Speeding is one of the main causes of fatal accidents.
