Moscow, December 5 /Xinhua/ — Mining operations at the Vorkutinskaya mine in the Zapolyarnaya-2 block have been suspended for 90 days due to industrial safety violations, the press service of the Komi Republic's courts reported on Friday.
On November 29, gas contamination was detected at the mine's extraction site, the Pechora Office of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Supervision (Rostekhnadzor) previously reported. Work at the site was suspended, and the case materials for the safety violation were referred to court.
On December 4, the court found Vorkutaugol JSC guilty of gross violations of industrial safety regulations, resulting in an immediate threat to human life and health. Operations and mining operations at the hazardous production facility were suspended for 90 days.
