Yerevan, December 5 /Xinhua/ — The 6th International Academic Conference on Eurasian Studies, dedicated to modern China and Eurasia, opened here today.

The keynote speaker at the event was Professor Deng Siwei, Associate Vice President of the University of Hong Kong and Director of the Asia Global Institute. He presented an analytical report on China's role in global economic processes and the transformation of global interdependence. Mher Sahakyan, Director of the China-Eurasia Council for Political and Strategic Research, noted that China currently plays a crucial role on the Eurasian continent. China has strategic partnership agreements with all three South Caucasus states. Armenia and China signed a similar agreement this year, which will allow Armenia to rebalance international relations and deepen cooperation with China in various areas, he noted.

The two-day conference will feature 65 scholars from more than 20 countries who will present papers on political processes on the Eurasian continent, regional security, and contemporary geopolitical challenges. –0–
