Moscow, December 4 /Xinhua/ — Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov called India a "truly great" partner for Russia. This was reported by TASS, citing an interview Peskov gave to VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"This visit [by Russian President Vladimir Putin to India] is primarily driven by the nature of the relations between the two countries. It is a privileged strategic partnership. India is truly our great partner," said D. Peskov.
The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that Moscow and New Delhi's relations are not only "historical and deeply rooted," but also highly developed and multifaceted. "There are challenges, and there are achievements. Relations exist in the most sensitive areas. And it's not just a simple buy-and-sell relationship. We share technologies. This is a truly unique phenomenon," he noted.
"And most importantly, the two countries' visions of our planet's future are largely convergent. That's the most important thing," added D. Peskov.
On December 4-5, Russian President Vladimir Putin is in India on a state visit, during which he will meet with Indian leaders, lay a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, and participate in the Russian-Indian Business Forum.
