BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — China released reports on hot and emerging cutting-edge scientific research areas in 2025 on Wednesday. The report selected 128 research areas that experienced rapid and active development during the year.
These two reports, jointly published by the Institute of Science and Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the National Science Library of CAS and global analytics company Clarivate, aim to analyze major scientific achievements that may influence the future development of the world and serve China's national strategy for scientific and technological innovation.
These research areas cover areas such as agricultural sciences, botany and zoology, ecology and environmental science, earth sciences, clinical medicine, biological sciences, chemistry and materials science, physics, astronomy and astrophysics, mathematics, computer science, economics, psychology and other social sciences.
"As the scientific and technological revolution rapidly gains momentum, cutting-edge research areas continue to expand. These reports raise new questions and pose challenges for the integrated development of technology, the economy, society, and other diverse areas," noted Pan Jiaofeng, Director of the Institute of Science and Development at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
