BEIJING, December 3 (Xinhua) — China opposes external interference in Venezuela's internal affairs under any pretext and calls on all parties to avoid further escalation of the situation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
On November 29, the United States declared that the airspace over and around Venezuela should be considered "completely closed." In its statement, the Venezuelan government strongly opposed the US statements, believing that these comments violated the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law. Many Latin American and Caribbean countries also strongly opposed the US statement.
Commenting on this information, Lin Jian noted that China opposes any actions that violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and infringe on the sovereignty and security of other countries.
