Specialists urban economy complex The park near the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the east of the capital has been renovated. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Public Works. Petr Biryukov.
The work was carried out as part of the improvement work in the area adjacent to Sokolniki station on the Big Circle Line (BKL). The route to the station passes through a park near the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It now offers a comfortable space for quiet relaxation. Modern lighting, comfortable benches, and landscaping were installed in the park.
The walking paths were resurfaced, covering a total area of nearly 925 square meters. The park's layout remained the same: a central alley with a circular platform in the center and two side alleys connected to it.
"Good lighting is an essential component of creating a comfortable urban environment, so the renovated park features 14 five-meter-tall street lamps in a historical style. They resemble vintage gas lanterns, but shine quite brightly thanks to LED fixtures. Benches and pergolas with swings were installed, and landscaping was carried out—linden trees and lilacs were planted, 1,500 square meters of lawn were laid out, and nearly 170 square meters of perennial flower beds were created," noted Petr Biryukov.
Earlier, several streets, the Moscow Firefighters' Square, the area near the main entrance to Sokolniki Park, and the monument to Nikolai Gastello were cleaned up in the area of the Sokolniki station on the Big Circle Line.
In 2023, a sports cluster with a skate park, pump track, streetball court, and workout area was built on Gastello Street.
