VIENTIANE, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) — Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a Chinese party and government delegation to Laos on an official visit from Dec. 1 to 3 and attended celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The visit was held at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the Lao government.
Van Huning held meetings with the General Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee, the country's President Thongloun Sisoulith, the Prime Minister of Laos Sonsai Siphhandon, the Speaker of the National Assembly Saisomphon Phomvihane, and the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction Sinlawong Khutphaithun.
During his meeting with T. Sisoulith, Wang Huning noted that China is willing to work with Laos to implement the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and countries, continue to firmly support each other on issues affecting their core interests and concerns, including the Taiwan question, and accelerate the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future characterized by high standards, high quality, and high standards. He also briefed his counterpart on the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and expressed his willingness to deepen exchanges of governance experience with Laos and jointly advance each other's socialist development.
T. Sisoulith congratulated China on the successful holding of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Laos sincerely appreciates China's long-standing valuable support, he stated. Bilateral relations are at their highest level ever, and cooperation with China has brought tangible benefits to the Lao people, the president emphasized. According to the head of state, Vientiane is committed to working with Beijing to further strengthen the construction of a Lao-Chinese community with a shared future, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and resolutely opposes any erroneous statements or actions affecting China's internal affairs.
