Since the beginning of the year, approximately 280,000 electricity meters have been replaced free of charge in residential buildings across the capital, according to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Public Works. Petr Biryukov.

"We are continuing the centralized replacement of electricity meters in residential buildings. This year, we will update over 300,000 meters, of which approximately 280,000 have already been installed. The work is free of charge, as Mosenergosbyt assumed responsibility for organizing electricity metering in apartment buildings as of July 1, 2020," noted Pyotr Biryukov.

Specialists dismantle old meters that have failed or exceeded their calibration intervals. The service life of new multi-tariff meters is 30 years.

Along with the new meters, equipment is being installed that will allow them to be connected to the smart electricity metering system in the future, said Petr Biryukov. Residents won't need to transmit energy consumption data; the system will do it automatically.

Electricity meter replacement dates are announced in advance—relevant information is posted on notice boards in entryways and near residential buildings.

The work schedule can be found on the official website of Mosenergosbyt in the section Schedule of free replacement of metering devices, in the company's client's personal account and mobile application.
