Tbilisi, December 3 (Xinhua) — The European Commission announced its active support for energy connectivity projects between the European Union and neighboring regions, to be implemented by 2035. The published list includes the Black Sea undersea cable project, jointly submitted by Georgia and Romania for Project of Mutual Interest status. This was announced on Tuesday by the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

According to the announcement, the European Commission adopted a delegated regulation and published a list of projects of common interest and projects of mutual interest, including the Black Sea Cable project. The document will be submitted to the European Parliament and the Council for approval. Once approved, the projects of mutual interest will receive legal, financial, and strategic support from the EU.

The Ministry notes that inclusion on the list will provide the project with the necessary strategic, legal, and economic support.

The submarine cable project envisages the construction of a digital and high-voltage underwater power transmission line with a length of approximately 1,155 km, including 1,115 km of underwater and 40 km of land, with a capacity of 1,300 MW.
