Nairobi, December 2 (Xinhua) — A readers' forum dedicated to the English edition of the fifth volume of "Xi Jinping on Governance" was held here on Monday. Around 200 people attended the event.

The forum was jointly organized by the State Council Information Office, the China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.

Speaking at the event, Hassan Omar Hassan, Secretary-General of the United Democratic Alliance of Kenya, stated that the fifth volume of "Xi Jinping on Governance" lays the foundation for socioeconomic transformation worldwide. "Overall, I believe it is a model that many countries can adapt to their own national circumstances and learn from the Chinese model," he said.

Mo Gaoyi, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and director of the State Council Information Office, said that all five volumes of "Xi Jinping on Governance" present the historical achievements, development path, and distinctive features of China's path to modernization.

He added that the book series also offers valuable ideas and approaches for countries in the Global South seeking their own modernization. China is willing to strengthen unity and cooperation with African countries, including Kenya, to jointly advance the four major global initiatives, promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and implement the 10 partnership actions to advance modernization, Mo Gaoyi stated.

China's progress in modernization will continue to create new opportunities for Africa, and the two sides are working together to write a new chapter in the history of building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, he said.

“The forum plays an important role in helping Kenyan readers fully understand the essence of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and deepen their understanding of the practical achievements of China’s modernization and its global significance,” said William Kabogo Gitau, Cabinet Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy.

Kenya is interested in gaining insights into China's modernization journey from the book, he said, as the country seeks to promote exchanges with Chinese scholars, media professionals and writers.

During the event, the Chinese side presented foreign guests with English-language copies of the fifth volume of Xi Jinping's book "Xi Jinping on Governance."
