Beijing, November 30 (Xinhua) — A forum on the role of mathematics in promoting socio-economic development was held in Chongqing, southwest China, on Saturday. The opening of a Class A base of the China-Russia Mathematics Center, affiliated with the Chongqing Big Data Institute, established in collaboration with Peking University, was announced at the event.

According to the Chongqing Daily, the base established in Chongqing will focus on national strategic needs and cutting-edge international scientific and technological achievements, as well as key theoretical and applied areas of mathematics. Drawing on the excellent resources of the China-Russia Mathematics Center, it will prioritize the creation of high-level research platforms, collaboration on major projects, exchanges, and the training of qualified specialists, thereby providing important support for enhancing the potential for original innovation in mathematics in China.

A number of innovative results were also published during the event. In particular, at the subforum "Innovation and Industrial Development through Applied Mathematics," the Chongqing National Center for Applied Mathematics published eight representative achievements in this field, covering key areas such as intelligent transportation, autonomous driving, and intelligent manufacturing.

As a reminder, the China-Russia Mathematics Center was established in 2020 at the initiative of Peking University and Lomonosov Moscow State University.
