Beijing, November 29 (Xinhua) — The 2025 Chinese and Russian Literature Week opened in Beijing on Friday, the Wenyi Bao (Literature and Art Newspaper), a newspaper affiliated with the Chinese Writers' Union, reported.
At the opening ceremony of this event, cooperation documents were signed between the Union of Chinese Writers and the Union of Russian Writers, the Museum of Modern Literature of China and the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature, the Chinese newspaper Wenyi Bao, and the Russian Literaturnaya Gazeta. Furthermore, Russian writer Vladislav Artemov was awarded a certificate for the inclusion of his literary materials in the collection of the Museum of Modern Literature of China.
On the same day, a dialogue was also held between representatives of writers from the two countries on two topics: “The Influence of Literary Classics on Modern Readers” and “Challenges and Opportunities for Literary Creativity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
In addition, the event will feature thematic readings of Boris Pasternak's works, lectures on Russian and Soviet literature, a forum for young writers from China and Russia, and more.
Zhang Hongsen, head of the Chinese Writers' Union, stated that Russian literature enjoys a broad readership and significant influence in China, while contemporary Chinese literature is gaining popularity and recognition among Russian readers. He noted that literary exchanges between the two countries have yielded fruitful results in recent years, including the establishment of a Chinese Literature Readers' Club in Russia, which has introduced the best works of some prominent Chinese writers to Russian readers.
