Moscow, November 28 (Xinhua) – Three people were killed and four were injured when part of a two-story building under construction collapsed in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, TASS reported on Friday, citing the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"The body of a third victim has been recovered from the rubble. At the site of the collapse, rescuers are dismantling damaged structures manually and using heavy equipment, and are also pouring water on the still-wet concrete to reach the lower layers of the rubble," the department's press service said in a statement.

It was previously reported that four people were injured and taken to hospital, but three later refused hospitalization.

According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred during concrete pouring. The injured were construction workers at the site.

Investigators from the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sakhalin Region have opened a criminal case regarding violations of safety regulations during construction or other work. –0–
