Moscow, November 28 (Xinhua) — A seminar entitled "Opening a New Chapter in China-Russia Cooperation and Jointly Proposing a New Vision for Global Governance" was held Thursday at the Chinese Embassy in Moscow. Leading Russian sinologists, scholars, and researchers discussed the prospects for cooperation between China and Russia in jointly advancing China's Global Governance Initiative.
Opening the seminar, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui recalled that on September 1 of this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Governance Initiative at the SCO Plus meeting in Tianjin, a city in northern China. "This is another important international public good offered by China to the world in the new era. This initiative, along with the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, brings much-needed stability and certainty to an unstable world," the diplomat noted, emphasizing that immediately after its launch, the initiative quickly gained the support of more than 140 countries and international organizations.
Andrei Denisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs and former Russian Ambassador to China, pointed out that China is the only major country in the world to have put forward a series of major, interconnected strategic initiatives that are, on the one hand, conceptually coherent and, on the other, an invitation to further collaborative work. "The ideas they embody will define the ideological framework for human existence in the foreseeable future—until the end of the 21st century," he added.
Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia at the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated in his speech that today's Russian-Chinese relations represent a unique phenomenon in global politics—a steadily strengthening friendship and partnership between the two largest powers on the Eurasian continent. "Today, we see China actively building not only a new policy but even an ideology—a system of ideas for the future of all humanity. Xi Jinping's ideas are the foundation of today's Chinese policy, which is being laid not for a year or two, but for the coming decades," he noted.
The seminar participants concluded that it is necessary to study Xi Jinping's ideas as closely as possible in order to understand how China will develop and how to effectively and competently build relations between the countries. –0–
