Bishkek, November 26 (Xinhua) — On Wednesday, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek. Following the talks, the two leaders made statements to the media, praising bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, and investment.

As reported on the Kyrgyz President's website, S. Japarov emphasized in his statement that Russia is one of Kyrgyzstan's main trading partners, accounting for 22 percent of trade turnover. "We are pleased to note the progressive progress toward our shared goal of reaching the $5 billion mark in mutual trade in the coming years," he stated.

The Kyrgyz leader noted that Russian direct investment in Kyrgyzstan in the first six months of this year amounted to $110 million. "According to our data as of November 2025, there are more than 1,800 companies with Russian participation operating in Kyrgyzstan, accounting for one-third of the total number of foreign companies," added S. Japarov.

According to the Kremlin website, Vladimir Putin stated that by the end of 2024, trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan had set a new record, exceeding $4 billion. This year, this figure "continues to grow at a good pace"—approximately 17 percent. The ruble's share of bilateral commercial transactions already stands at 97 percent.

According to the Russian President, Russia is among the leading investors in the Kyrgyz economy. Russian capital investment has accumulated nearly $2 billion. Approximately 1,700 businesses with Russian participation operate in Kyrgyzstan in key sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, transportation, and logistics.

That same day, S. Japarov and V. Putin signed a joint statement on deepening their alliance and strategic partnership. The parties also signed a number of documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in education, healthcare, migration, economic, and military-technical cooperation.

From November 25 to 27, Vladimir Putin will visit Kyrgyzstan on a state visit and to participate in a meeting of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. –0–
