BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) — A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on Wednesday called on Japan to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in Japan amid rising crimes against Chinese citizens.
"Just last week, we noted that Japanese police arrested five suspects involved in attacks on Chinese citizens," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press conference, adding that there has also been an increase in extremist and threatening speech directed at China on the Japanese internet.
Mao Ning reported that the Chinese embassy and consulates in Japan have recently been subjected to repeated online and offline provocations by right-wing radicals.
"We urge Japan to take China's concerns seriously and take effective measures to ensure the safety and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens and institutions in Japan," the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized. -0-
