BEIJING, November 26 (Xinhua) — A seminar for specialists in transport connectivity between China and Central Asian countries opened Tuesday in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Transportation and communications officials from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan participated, the Xinjiang Daily newspaper reported.

During the 7-day training, thematic lectures will be held to provide seminar participants with theoretical knowledge in the field of transportation. Study tours will be organized to the Xinjiang Integrated Transportation and Communication Management Center, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, known as the world's longest high-speed highway tunnel under construction, and other sites, allowing seminar participants to become familiar with Xinjiang's achievements and experience in the transportation sector.

As Huang Lei, an official from the Chinese Ministry of Transport, noted, holding such an event is one of the concrete measures to deepen practical cooperation in the field of transport between China and the countries of Central Asia.

According to the report, as a core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xinjiang has made remarkable progress in building transportation infrastructure in recent years, laying a solid foundation for deepening transportation cooperation between China and Central Asian countries. -0-
