BEIJING, November 25 (Xinhua) — China's civil aviation sector recorded growth in international passenger and cargo traffic in October, with both figures growing by over 20 percent, according to data released Tuesday by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
The data also showed that the country's monthly volume of air cargo and mail transport exceeded 900,000 tons for the first time in history.
In October this year, China's total civil aviation turnover reached 14.6 billion tonne-kilometers, up 10.8 percent year-on-year.
The volume of passenger transportation in this sector last month amounted to almost 67.84 million person-times, an increase of 5.8 percent year-on-year, while the volume of air cargo and mail shipments increased by 13.4 percent year-on-year to approximately 917 thousand tons.
In the first 10 months of this year, the country's total civil aviation turnover increased by 10.3 percent year-on-year to 136.63 billion tonne-kilometers. During this period, Chinese airlines carried 650 million passengers, up 5.3 percent year-on-year, while cargo and mail volumes increased by 13.9 percent to 8.31 million tonnes. -0-
