TEHRAN, July 19 (Xinhua) — Iran is ready to expand interaction and cooperation with Armenia, while simultaneously developing plans to develop bilateral relations in the future, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday.

M. Pezeshkian made the corresponding statement during a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. During the conversation, the two leaders also discussed Iran's nuclear program and the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.

M. Pezeshkian confirmed the “transparency and peaceful nature” of Iran’s nuclear activities, noting that his country will in no case submit to force, pressure or deprivation of the legitimate rights of its people.

He stressed that Iran has always supported the promotion of peace and has never sought war and destabilization.

During the talks, M. Pezeshkian also praised the “historical, friendly and constructive” relations between Iran and Armenia, emphasizing that Iran’s policy is to promote “constructive” interaction with all neighbors while respecting the territorial integrity of all states.

The Armenian Prime Minister, for his part, expressed condolences over the deaths of Iranian citizens as a result of Israeli airstrikes, condemning Israel’s “aggressive” actions.
