HANGZHOU, November 23 (Xinhua) — A China-Europe train loaded with new energy equipment, electronic components, daily necessities, and other export goods departed from Jinhua South Railway Station in east China's Zhejiang Province on Saturday. This marks the first time since the beginning of 2025 that the number of China-Europe/Central Asia freight trains departing from Zhejiang Province has exceeded 1,200.

During the reporting period, this figure increased by 12 percent year-on-year and was achieved 39 days earlier than last year.

According to staff from the logistics department of the Shanghai branch of China State Railway Corporation (CSRC), in recent years, railway authorities in the Yangtze River Delta region, together with customs authorities and platform companies, have been promoting the construction of "smart checkpoints" in Zhejiang Province. This ensures the public availability of information between railway authorities, customs authorities, stations, and operating companies through the implementation of a unified information platform and facilitates the development of China-Europe freight transport in Zhejiang Province by improving quality, efficiency, and safety.

As a reminder, China-Europe rail freight transport currently operates 26 regular cross-border routes linking Zhejiang Province with over 160 cities in over 50 countries across the Eurasian continent. The range of goods transported continues to expand, and their value is steadily rising. China-Europe trains departing from Zhejiang Province are characterized by ample cargo supply, convenient customs clearance, and extensive geographic coverage.

According to data released at the 2nd China-Europe Freight Train Services International Cooperation Forum, which was recently held in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, the total number of freight trains operating on these routes has reached nearly 120,000 since the launch of the China-Europe freight train routes. They have carried a total of approximately 12 million TEU (tall unit) containers.

In addition, from January to August 2025, a total of 5,531 trains traveled along the China-Kazakhstan, China-Kyrgyzstan, and China-Turkmenistan routes. These trains carried nearly 520,000 TEUs. -0-
