BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) — From the beginning of 2025 to Nov. 19, 10,131 China-Europe/Central Asia freight trains passed through Lanzhou North Railway Station, capital of Northwest China's Gansu Province, the Zhongguo Xinwenwang news portal reported.

Lanzhou, a hub city on China-Europe/Central Asia rail freight routes, has been integrated into the network of distribution centers serving the corresponding trains in Northwest China.

Lanzhou North Railway Station, the largest freight yard in Gansu Province, is a mandatory stop on the western corridor of China-Europe routes. An increasing number of trains are passing through it for maintenance, the report notes.

According to data released at the 2nd China-Europe Freight Train Services International Cooperation Forum, which was recently held in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, the total number of freight trains operating on these routes has reached nearly 120,000 since the launch of the China-Europe freight train routes. They have carried a total of approximately 12 million TEU (tall unit) containers.

In addition, from January to August 2025, a total of 5,531 trains traveled along the China-Kazakhstan, China-Kyrgyzstan, and China-Turkmenistan routes. These trains carried nearly 520,000 TEUs. -0-
