DHAKA, November 22 (Xinhua) — At least 10 people were killed and hundreds more injured on Friday when one of the strongest earthquakes in Bangladesh's recent history struck near the capital Dhaka.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), a magnitude 5.7 earthquake was recorded at 10:38 a.m. local time. The epicenter was located near the town of Narsingdi, 13 kilometers east of the Agargaon seismic center in the capital, Dhaka.
Following the earthquake, authorities launched an emergency response mechanism and dispatched teams to various sites to assist with disaster relief and rescue efforts. –0–
